Apple Picking, Apple Cider Mimosas & Apple Sauce
We took the kids apple picking at Swan Trail Farm in Snohomish this weekend. Can someone tell apple orchards they need to serve apple cider mimosas? They would make a killing! I’m sure they can’t serve booze but really… a killing. If you haven’t tried an apple cider mimosa yet I highly recommend it. All you need is some yummy fresh apple cider (we picked some up at Swan Trail) and champagne or Prosecco. So after a few hours of wrangling children and masks at the apple orchard we came home and a mimosa had never tasted so good. But really, the apple picking process at Swan Trail is super simple. They provide a bag, you pick as many apples as you would like, pay $3 a pound for them, and that’s it – the kids loved it!
We didn’t realize Swan Trail had all of their pumpkin patch festivities going already – corn maze, tractor rides, hay stacks etc. – and didn’t allow enough time for it but we plan to head back this week for some fall fun in the sun and more fresh apple cider for mimosa making.
Megan’s old nanny, Samantha aka Mantha – Hi Mantha!, used to take the kids apple picking every year and then they would come home and make some very tasty apple sauce; we want to keep the tradition going! The apple sauce is so yummy and makes your house smell amazing. Use this recipe – surprisingly it’s pretty darn easy and SO much tastier than store bought apple sauce. Mantha recommends using Honeycrisp (which is what we picked) or Macintosh apples and Treetop 3 Apple apple juice for the best results.
Happy Fall ya’ll! I really wasn’t ready for Summer to go, but apple cider mimosas make everything better :). Try them and tag us Instagram!
