  • Happy Anniversary Mallory & Chris

Today is Mallory and Chris’ 6th wedding anniversary. And this post is a complete surprise to both of them. Mallory previews and QCs all of our posts before they go live – I might lose my password privileges after this… Six years ago I had the honor of being Mallory’s matron of honor and giving a speech during her and Chris’ wedding reception. A couple weeks ago I found my handwritten speech on four pieces of legal notepad paper while searching for something else in my home office (which is really a closet but more about that in another post). I decided it would be a fun anniversary surprise to…

  • My Festive & Inexpensive 4th of July Purchases

We spend the week of Fourth of July in Lake Chelan at my parent’s cabin and I do my best to have us all wearing red, white and blue the entire time we are there. It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year, helped by the fact Chris and my anniversary is the 5th, and having us all in coordinating red, white and blue just makes it that much better! Here are the new fun festive pieces I found for my fam and myself for the lake this year: Fitted Tie-Dye Ribbed Tank / Old Navy Rose in the USA Graphic Tee / Vintage Crew Neck Red White and…

  • Two Fun Walks To Take As a Family

Are you in a walk rut? We have always taken a ton of walks, scooter and bike rides as a family and now more than ever during the pandemic. Joey loves to bike, scooter and be outside. I love the easy entertainment it provides us all and the extra exercise is nice especially without gyms or classes to attend at the moment. I dread the days we aren’t able to get outside for a walk due to weather; it makes for a very long day. Given we are in our fourth (?!) month of social distancing, I realized we were in a bit of a walk rut – taking the…

  • Gardening With Kids

My kids love to garden! They look forward to every spring when plant starts begin to show up in stores. Each year we plant snap peas (our backyard snap peas taste so much better than store bought!), kale, cherry tomatoes (recommend the Sweet Million and Sun Gold varieties), cilantro, parsley, and basil. And we also have perennial blueberries, raspberries, rhubarb, chives, an artichoke, and rosemary in our yard. This year we added radishes (which are a great one to plant from seed with kids because they sprout so fast), broccoli with a lot of success, and some containers of strawberries and something called a Hula Berry from Costco. In the…

  • Father’s Day Gift Guide

We know these gifts are good because they are on Chris and Ryan’s list or they currently own the item and love it! Japanese Whiskey is all the rage these days; is your hubby into it? Read this article for inspiration. Chris is currently enjoying the the Ohishi Whisky and Nikka Yoichi Single Malt. Golf shoes and if you are really nice you could give him a day of golf with them. Yeti Slim Can Insulator. A yeti made just for Dad Juice! Get him a Costco 30 pack of Truly to go with it. Or go big with a Yeti Collegiate Cooler. Chris’s sister gifted him a Yeti Cooler…

  • My Favorite Baby Items from Jack’s First Year

Jack is ONE today and I compiled a list of our most loved and used baby products from his first year. After my second baby, I feel like I have a better understanding of what you REALLY want during that first year. Here are a list of my must-have baby items: But first, how cute are these Honest Happy Birthday diapers?! It’s kind of hard to see because I had zero cooperation from Jack but my girlfriend gave me this little pack of Honest Happy Birthday Diapers with his birthday gift and they are so cute! I had never seen them before. Such a fun idea! He’ll obviously be wearing…

  • Jack’s Sprinkle

Friday is my nephew Jack’s first birthday! Please join me in wishing a happy early birthday to Jack! As we posted yesterday, leading up to his special day we are revisiting the fun celebrations we threw in his honor prior to his birth. Today we are sharing the details of the baby sprinkle I cohosted with Mallory’s friend Hillary in honor of the future Jack.  What is a baby sprinkle? A baby sprinkle is a type of shower to celebrate a family’s second child. Instead of an elaborate event where a first-time mom is showered with gifts, it’s a more casual, lower-key gathering where a mom-to-be gets sprinkled with just the necessities. In…

  • JACK’S GENDER REVEAL PARTY

Mallory’s youngest son Jack is turning one this Friday! In honor of his coming birthday, we thought it would be fun to revisit some of the fun celebrations we had leading up to his birth.  In early December 2018, Mallory’s sister-in-law Anna and I co-hosted a gender reveal brunch at Magnuson Café & Brewery for her and Chris. Have you visited the café in Magnuson Park yet? With terrific views of Lake Washington and a large outdoor deck, the brewery is an excellent option to sample beer in the sunshine on a warm afternoon.  While Seattle weather in early December does not lend itself to an outdoor celebration, the café worked with us…

  • Lake Chelan Favorites

Here is a list of our favorite things you don’t want to miss on your next trip to Lake Chelan: First things first, on your drive into Chelan, be sure to stop by Anjou Bakery and Country Boy’s BBQ in Cashmere. Anjou bakery for the best pies, tuna sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, and home made almond milk lattes. Country boy’s for the best barbecue ribs, chicken thighs, brisket and corn bread. YUM. The Vogue Liquid Lounge is the best spot in town for coffee and the tastiest home made granola bar you will ever have. We love to grab coffees and then try to keep up with the kids on scooters…
