Mint Chocolate Cold Brew

But first, coffee. My morning mantra and ritual made only better with the addition of Mint Chocolate Cold Brew! I came up with this new recipe for Ryan’s birthday a few weeks ago (his favorite flavor combination is mint & chocolate), but now I am the one obsessed with it. Its a riff on the original Magical Cold Brew recipe that we previously posted here. Highly recommend you try both recipes before summer disappears.

Its Friday….treat yourself! Or so said my husband Ryan when he saw me adding whipped cream to the top of my Mint Chocolate Cold Brew this morning. That was until my spray can of whipped cream ran out after only one swirl, which really just sums up my week. Here’s a very accurate picture of me leaving the house for work this morning…

after dropping my first tall glass of cold brew (with the one remaining swirl of whipped cream) on the kitchen floor. Ryan says he always wanted a kitchen that smells like a coffee roastery…

But, really coffee all over the floor is WAY better than the bird poop I have been cleaning off myself and clothes since last night, when we thought it would be a good idea to eat outside at Magnuson Café & Brewery after Emma’s soccer practice . A seagull apparently thought I, my white sweater, and family’s burgers looked like a great place to relieve itself. Then there is the sty that made an appearance on my left eye yesterday and the finger wound I have been nursing since I thought it was a good idea to bring my left hand into contact with an electric hedge trimmer that I was operating with my right hand.

So, if you are in need of a pick me up after a long week, try out our new Mint Chocolate Cold Brew preferably in a personalized cold cup. If it can put a smile on my face after bird poop, a sty, and a finger with an electric hedge trimmer wound, you are bound to enjoy it! High praise, I know 😉

INGREDIENTS

  • 2/3 cup coarse ground coffee (we use this)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 – 1.38 oz. envelope hot cocoa mix (we used Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate)
  • 4 fresh mint sprigs (each sprig should have approximately 4 leaves)
  • Oat Milk (or dairy/non-dairy selection of your choice)
  • Ice

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a pitcher, mix ground coffee, cocoa, mint sprigs and 3 cups water.
  2. Stir, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  3. When ready to use, pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer (or a colander with a paper coffee filter in it) into a bowl. Rinse out your pitcher and pour filtered brew back into pitcher for easy storage and serving.
  4. For each drink, fill a tall glass halfway with ice. Pour in coffee until glass is about 3/4 full, and add milk or non-dairy creamer to taste.
  5. Enjoy!
