Our Favorite Things to do in SUNCADIA

Pre kids, I didn’t find Suncadia all that exciting. Post kids, it’s the best place ever. It is such a kid friendly, easy destination with so many things to do as a family. We’ve been fortunate to spend a ton of time there with my in-laws and are eager to spend more time! Over the past few years we’ve discovered more great kid friendly activities and given that we spent this last weekend there and stumbled upon a few more fun things, I thought we should share! And I’m not even talking about ALL of the events Suncadia itself puts on… like bringing in a Build a Bear workshop, Santa Claus at Christmas time, bounce houses, pumpkin patches, Easter egg bunny hunts – the list goes on and on. They put on SO many fun events. I’m sure COVID will have an unfortunate impact on that this year but we look forward to it picking back up in the future.

Also, hot news from my in-laws realtor! There are plans to break ground on 11 commercial spaces in May near the lodge! The new spaces are supposed to be filled with a general store, brewery, cafe and more! Aka exactly what Suncadia has been missing. Such exciting news!

Here are some of our favorite family friendly activities we have discovered since we have had the opportunity to spend so much time over there:

Family Room at The Brick – Did you know that the Brick, aka oldest bar in the state of Washington, has a family dining room in the back and serves some very tasty $5 burgers? It’s the best.

Par 3 Golf Course at the Rope Rider course next to Swiftwater Cellars. The perfect thing for young golfers or adult beginners! And totally free!

Nightly (and complimentary) smores at the Lodge. What’s better than a smore and glass of red? Nada. Or even easier if you are staying in a home, get your own smores supplies and roast em’ in your own fire pit….

The Nelson Farm Pool is the newer of the two pools at Suncadia and has a splash pad – perfect for our little ones. Not to mention a poolside bar!

Cle Elum Dru Bru. I’ve somehow been to the new Dru Bru twice in just over a week so that says something! Dru Bru’s new Cle Elum location opened up the end of August and it’s so nice to have something else in Cle Elum to venture to. Our other favorite spots in town are Owens Meats, The Cle Elum Bakery, Pioneer Coffee Co., and El Caporal Mexican Restaurant.

Dawson Park. Every time we are at this park we say it’s the greatest park ever. The play structure is way above par and there is so much space for the kids. Huge grass fields, a basketball court, off leash dog park, and a play house that provides all the sport equipment a little one could ever need. This was Jack’s first time at Dawson park and it was the best time of his life – evident in the pictures below.

A meal at the Inn. The Hoist House at Swifwater Cellars is shockingly hard to get into, so plan in advance and make a reservation if you’d really like to have a sit down meal at the winery. We often forget, so we end up dining at the Inn instead and we always have a great experience. We have had multiple lunches and a few dinners both outside and in and it feels much more relaxed and kid-friendly than Swiftwater does.

Long walks on the “scooter trails” as Joe refers to them. Bring the stroller and scooter or bike. It’s worth it to be able to take long walks around the property and for walking/scooting to the lodge for coffee and breakfast in the morning and cocktails at happy hour. We have rented bikes and a burley which is also a great time!

We just got back and after writing this I’m already ready to go back! If you get a chance to venture East, let us know if you check out any of our favorite Suncadia spots.
