Soup-tember
It’s soup-tember! Megan and I whipped up our first pots of soup for the season this past Sunday and I’m just finishing the last bowl of leftovers as I write this. Yum. We love soup season around here – they are easy to make, have a good of amount of veggies and leftovers make for easy healthy lunches all week. My first soup of the season was one I make all through the Fall and Winter, Mama Mia Minestrone (originally from a kids cookbook so you know it’s easy) and Megan’s was her mini meatball and veggie soup – a fool proof recipe she made up herself! We rounded up…

Fall Wish List
We really can’t believe Summer is over and school is back in session. But here we are… Goodbye Labor day and hello Fall! While I can’t stand seeing Summer go, it doesn’t take much time before I’m excited for all things Fall: football on TV, apples and pumpkins everywhere and cozy soup and chili in the crock pot and allll the fun things that come out – from cozy shackets to pumpkin face masks. Megan and my Fall wish lists are a mile long – mine is closer to two miles so good thing my birthday is in a month. And thankfully my mother already knows that multiple batches of…

Is it a Tequila Spritz or Aperol Margarita?
Cheers to Friday! In celebration of the long Labor Day weekend ahead of us, I wanted to share a new cocktail I have been making at home. Is it a Tequila Spritz, an Aperol Margarita, or something else entirely? Unclear but its really good. The pandemic has taught me that I really like tequila-based cocktails and Aperol Spritzes. But, while I love a spritz, often times I don’t want to open a bottle of champagne or prosecco to make myself one cocktail in the evening. And, after a long day, sometimes even making a margarita sounds like a lot of work. As does using a cocktail shaker (or admittedly, washing…

Nothing Bundt Cakes And Bundlettes
Let me tell you about my favorite cake….Nothin’ Bundt Cakes. I swear I’m really not even a cake person BUT while living in Santa Monica in graduate school 10 years ago (woah)… It was love at first bite. This adorable little shop on Montana Street was always offering samples and I took full advantage of those tasty little samples. Naturally every guest that came into town I had to introduce to to Nothing Bundt Cakes and of course one of those guests was Megan. Megan was equally wow-ed but the best bundt cakes ever and even looked into franchising opportunities for a hot minute – not kidding! While our dreams…

A Visit to Seabrook, Washington’s Beach Town
We went to SEABROOK (no, not ABROOK or EABROOK, geez I wish someone had told me to move my head to the left in that picture) last week to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday! It was our first time visiting Washington’s Beach Town and we had a wonderful time. See our full review and trip highlights below. Just a two and a half hour drive outside of Seattle, Seabrook is a great vacation destination for families with young children (tons of park amenities, a pool, and walkable nearby beach) or an adult weekend away. Our Airbnb was fantastic – the Flagstaff House – well appointed kitchen, hot tub, cute bunkroom,…

Products We Are Loving
We are pretty simple when it comes to products and our morning, nighttime and getting-ready routines. The easier and faster the better. Here are the products we have been using and loving the past few months – some new and some old favorites :). Elta MD AM Therapy – We have used and love the Elta MD Moisturizing Sunscreen for years and I decided to give the AM Therapy and PM Therapy a shot. And what do you know? I love them. I put the AM Therapy on under my sunscreen and feel like it gives my somewhat dry skin that extra moisture it needs. Elta MD PM Therapy –…

Superfood Pesto
We love pesto around here – whether it’s on pasta, veggies, pizza or eggs! I used to make pesto at home all the time and then when Trader Joe’s came out with their Vegan Kale Pesto I guess I got little lazy! My cousin told me last weekend how she makes it all the time for her kids and reminded me about basil being a superfood. So, I basically couldn’t wait to make it and it was literally the first dinner I made when we got home. I looked up a bunch of different pesto recipes and came up with my own superfood pesto that has extra sneaky greens and…

Carlsbad & Coronado
We spent a long weekend in Carlsbad and Coronado for our cousin’s wedding and had such a great time. I really hadn’t spent time in the San Diego area since my yearly trip for the San Diego Surf Cup soccer tournament growing up and I loved it! Here were the highlights… Carlsbad is such a cute beach town! We highly recommend the amazing breakfast at Swami’s Cafe, delicious Beer Slushies from Pure Project Brewery, healthy eats and juices from Choice Juicery, and a long walk along the never ending beach. After two nights in Carlsbad we made our way to the Del Coronado hotel with a few stops on the…

Pasta Salad for the Win!
Last year I made a habit of posting pasta recipes on Fridays. Today, I am bringing the tradition back with two pasta salads that you really should make this weekend. Apparently nothing says TGIF like a noodle! Mallory and I spent last weekend with our families in Lake Chelan. Our grandparents built the cabin our parents now own on the lake and its not without its quirks. One of which we teasing refer to as its “one butt kitchen”. Its teeny, only room for one rear-end to be cooking, which is challenging when you are trying to prepare dinner for our large tribe. As a result, we try and get…

I love you S’more
Who doesn’t love a freshly toasted S’more? Classic s’mores are hard to beat, but let’s be real, we aren’t picky when it comes to a chocolate, graham cracker and marsh mellow combination. But s’mores lakeside with a glass of Washington red? Well friends, it doesn’t get any better than that. We had such a great weekend in Lake Chelan drinking all the wine and eating all things S’mores. But what’s a girl to do when you forgot you trusty indoor s’mores maker and there is a burn ban in effect? You make S’more Rice Krispies Treats and S’mores Jars – no campfire required. Find these delicious recipes below – along…
