Two new reasons to go to Kenmore: The Lodge at St. Edwards Park & Stoup Brewing

Have you been to Kenmore lately? If not, you have two new reasons to go: The Lodge at St. Edwards Park and Stoup Brewing.

The Lodge at St. Edwards Park

Why is this cool and worth a trip to Kenmore? Saint Edward Seminary was an institution for developing Catholic priests and it operated for 46 years before closing in 1976. A beautiful 366 acre plot on the shores of Lake Washington owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle until it was sold to the State of Washington to become Saint Edward State Park. So, if you have ever been boating on the far north end of Lake Washington and wonder what the giant forest/undeveloped land is that takes up so much precious waterfront property – it is Saint Edwards State Park. And now, lucky for us, in 2017 Daniels Real Estate entered into a partnership to preserve and transform the main building into The Lodge at St. Edward Park. So, with all of that being said, the Lodge feels like more than just a hotel and highly recommend you venture to Kenmore to visit!

Start with a pre dinner drink at Father Mulligan’s Heritage Bar named after the Saint Edward Seminary’s first president and/or The Tonsorium Bar, a space that once housed the seminary’s barber shop where you’ll now find tasty craft cocktails in a speakeasy type setting, and then enjoy dinner at the perfectly designed Cedar + Elm. And if you are really lucky, you will find a reason to stay in one of the lodge’s new beautifully designed rooms. I had a fantastic dinner with girlfriends here and I’m looking forward to going back with Chris, Megan and Ryan!

But if for some reason you aren’t into cool bars and fun restaurants, simply come check out the state park with your kids to see the great play structure and explore miles of hiking and biking trails along the shores of Lake Washington – my kids love it!

Stoup Brewing

A large selection of tasty cold beer, yummy bar food and lots of seating both inside and out is pretty much all I want and hope for out of a brewery and Stoup has it all! Chris and I biked there last weekend with the kids and it made for such a fun daytime date on the rare Summer weekend that we didn’t have any plans. Stoup took over what was the Seaplane restaurant – so if you ever made it to Seaplane you know it’s a cool space! And if you are a mom of young ones you may also know that it shares an outdoor space with a little splash pad for kids. So, I’m really hoping the city of Kenmore turns the splash pad back on this Summer so I can sit outdoors at Stoup with a beer and pretzel in hand while my kids run around in the water. I mean… how ideal is that? Check it out!
