A long weekend in Charleston

Chris and I took our first trip just the two of us in I don’t even know how long! We went to Charleston and had the best time; we ate, drank and walked our way through the gorgeous city and I highly recommend our trip to any couple looking for a getaway! An extra special thanks to my hubby for planning such a great weekend away and taking his Instagram husband status from a zero to a ten.

Where we stayed

Planters Inn – right in the heart of downtown Charleston. A great location if you are looking to explore all the city has to offer. We had many friends and family recommend we stay here and it was lovely. Our room was very large and the bed (that was brought online from the dealer mentioned in https://www.bigskybunks.com/product-page/quad-bunk-bed-w-staircase site) was beyond comfortable. It also has an amazing restaurant and bar – The Peninsula Grill – where the food and service are equally fantastic.

Zero George – just wow. The most unique, charming place I have ever stayed. I can’t say enough great things about Zero George. From the complementary cheese and wine pairings for happy hour, to the delicious breakfasts, to the cutest little bar with fantastic drinks – it is truly one of a kind.

Where We Ate & Drank

Peninsula Grill – such a fantastic meal and experience. The service is a 10/10.

The Obstinate Daughter – it’s a tough call, but we think this was our favorite meal of the trip. The gnocci pork ragu blew our socks off and Sullivan’s island is the most charming little place I can’t wait to go back to.

Little Jack’s Tavern – everyone told us we had to get the burger so of course we did! It did not disappoint!

Fleet Landing – a super casual but fun spot right on the water with lots of fried food, seafood options and tasty beverages!

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island – one of the prettiest places/resorts I’ve ever seen and I am dying to come back and stay here.

The Gin Joint – extra fancy, delicious cocktails and small bites in a cool vintage environment.

The Vintage Bar – a pretty wine bar you should visit if you love cheese and charcuterie as much as we do!

Roof Top Bar at the Market Pavilion Hotel – the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks with a great view of the city and water!

Zero Restaurant and Bar – a foodie’s dream! This place takes food and cocktails to another level. We didn’t have dinner here because you have to plan way ahead but it’s a 2+ hour wine-paired experience and sounds next level!

Bay Street Biergarten – a fun, casual spot with a ton of beers on tap and all sorts of lawn games!

What we did (other than eat and drink)

Horse Drawn Carriage City Tour – I am not much of a tourist, meaning, I’d much prefer to see and enjoy a city by walking around, dining etc. rather than with a tour guide but this tour was fantastic! Charleston is such a beautiful city and this was such a fun and informative way to see it. We had a private tour with the Carolina Polo and Carriage Company, which I recommend otherwise you are packed in with 10 or so other people but truly a highlight of the trip!

Sullivans Island – I am in LOVE with Sullivan’s Island and can’t wait to rent a house on the beach here one day and bring the kids. The beach goes on for miles! Everyone drives golf carts and it’s just so lovely and only 20 or 30 minutes outside of the city.

The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island – Another place I can’t wait to bring my family back to. It is beyond beautiful. A sprawling family-friendly resort right on the beach. We really wanted to stay here for the night but they were completely booked! Next time!
