• Friday House Update

Megan’s birthday is this weekend and we thought it would be fun to kick off the celebration with a little house remodel update.Go Here to know more about home renovation services. My House Painter can also help you out in getting your home improvement services done. Nothing says happy birthday like a new roof and windows. Composite shingle installation was completed this week (despite a little delay thanks to the snow) and as you can see from the picture, the rotting portico above the front door has now been removed. Goodbye baby fern growing out the side. It will be replaced with a new (sans dry rot) portico designed to…

  • Kid-Friendly Valentine Mocktails

Last week, Sam attended a Valentine’s Mocktail Class. Yes, you read that correctly, a kid-friendly Mocktail Class via Zoom. As a reminder, about three weeks ago, I posted here about attending a virtual cocktail class. During that class, some children were very excited about assisting their parents and some other moms, far more creative and on-the-ball than I, reached out to Virtual Cocktail Class to see if they would pull together a virtual mocktail class for kids. And, thus became the Valentine Mocktail Class that Sam absolutely adored. The bartender did a fantastic job with the kids! Highly recommend for children who love helping out in the kitchen. Here is…

  • Valentine Gift Ideas

Are you looking for some fun Valentine or Galentine gift ideas? Lets Wine About It Sister has some fun, themed gift ideas for you on this Wednesday. Ask anyone who knows me – I LOVE a good theme. Themed gifts are my jam and love language. My husband Ryan would affectionately say that I take a theme and then beat it to death. While I admittedly may over do it on occasion, I truly believe themed gifts indicate to the recipient that a lot of thought and effort went into the purchase. Its ImPASTAble To Love You More! My children love to eat noodles! Its there favorite food hands down.…

  • We Tried FitVine…

And you should too! Yesterday, Mallory bought a bottle of FitVine’s cabernet sauvignon at Bartell Drugs. I had never heard of “FitVine” until she posted a picture of the wine bottle on our Instagram account. Which means, of course, I immediately typed FitVine into my open web browser to find out what it was and where I too could buy a bottle. True unabashed FOMO rearing its ugly head resulted in my purchase of a bottle of FitVine Prosecco from Total Wine for $15.99. Now we just had to try it… What is FitVine? With a very cute tag line – We Crush Grapes, You Crush Life – FitVine Wine…

  • Demo Has Begun!

Demolition started this week on Megan’s new house. The home now has a charming huge blue dumpster and porta potty decorating the driveway. And while the rodents discovered during the first day of demo are probably not too happy about current events, we thought it might be fun to share some of the design ideas we are considering at this stage of the remodel process. The accounts we have been drawing a lot of inspiration from for this remodel project are Studio McGee (@studiomcgee), Danielle Moss (@daniellemoss_), Chris Loves Julia (@chrislovesjulia), Becki Owens (@beckiowens) and The Fox Group (@the_fox_group_). Any other remodel/interior design sources recommendations that you pull inspiration from?…

  • Attend a Virtual Cocktail Class

Its Friday and you deserve a cocktail. So why not learn to make one virtually? We have a fun, COVID-friendly activity recommendation for you: attend a virtual cocktail class! Last week Ryan and I attended a virtual cocktail class that we purchased from Sam and Emma’s school auction. As part of purchasing the tickets, cocktail supplies were dropped off on our doorstep (AMAZING!) and a Zoom link was provided. At the designated time, we simply signed on with a handful of other school parents and spent about 45 minutes learning how to make two cocktails – a Vodka Smash (my favorite!) and Planter’s Punch, the recipes for which are provided…

  • Meatball Monday

Are you looking for some dinner inspiration this MLK Monday morning? Why not make it a Meatball Monday? Because, admittedly today is one of my least favorite type of Mondays – when our kids are out of school but neither Ryan or I have the day off work – but I think meatballs (and noodles) will make it all better! For this Meatball Monday, I am recommending the meatball recipe from Jubilee: Recipes From Two Centuries of African American Cooking by Toni Tipton-Martin. These meatballs are 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 ground pork with minced onion (that I highly recommend you sauté before adding to your meatball mixture a la…

  • Team Breakfast

Lets Wine About It Sister is entering the age-old debate regarding the importance of eating breakfast. Are you Team Breakfast? Or do you fall in the “would rather skip it” camp? Both Mallory and I are staunch must east breakfast gals. And I have found that if I do not eat a breakfast that contains protein each morning, I will most certainly be eating dark chocolate individually-wrapped Reese’s peanut butter cups out of my colleague’s candy dish by 10am. Below are some of the ways I push off candy eating until at least after lunch. Microwave Eggs My husband Ryan gets out a pan and cooks himself an egg for…

  • New Year, New House.

We have been keeping a secret here at Lets Wine About It Sister…Megan bought a new house! Admittedly writing these words is a struggle because it makes it even more real. But Ryan and Megan bought each other new windows and appliances for the holidays, so we figured it was finally time to share. Megan bought her existing home back in 2007 while she and Ryan were dating. It was then only about 850 square feet (2 bedrooms, 1 bath) when she found it on CRAIG’S LIST. True story! Ryan even proposed to Megan on the deck in the backyard. After getting married, they remodeled the home together and expanded…

  • Peace. Love. Cookies.

Our mom is the Christmas cookie queen! Each year she bakes about 15 different types of cookies (gingerbread, teatime tassies, Nordie bars, melting moments, sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms, thumbprints, fudge, just to name a few) and sends them out to friends on beautiful, elaborate platters that our dad delivers on Christmas Eve. Sam and Emma love going to Grandma Lolo’s house on Christmas Eve to help fill the platters (and maybe sample a cookie or three in the process). Unfortunately our mom is not doing cookie platters this year due to COVID-19, but next year we promise to bring ALL the Christmas cookie content to you. In the meantime,…
