  • Thanksgiving Cocktails

Thanksgiving might look a little different than anticipated this year, but there is still one thing for sure, there will be cocktails! Because why not?! Let’s kick-off the most joyous time of the year with family and a festive cocktail or two. I scoured the Internet for the tastiest yet simple, aka made in a pitcher, festive Thanksgiving cocktails and then made and perfected them, just for you ;). I used to just be a champs and wine girl but these days I’m up for anything that makes life a little more fun. So, here are my three favorite Thanksgiving cocktails and I highly recommend you make one, two or…

  • Thanksgiving Fried Rice with Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts

Remember when Friendsgiving was a thing?!?! For years, Ryan and I have attended an annual Friendsgiving hosted by dear friends. It was actually the site of one of our early dates. Ryan was daring enough to bring me to his college friends’ Friendsgiving (nothing like trial by fire for this one) and I remember agonizing over what to wear. Ha! Remember when our choices consisted of something other than leisurewear, leisurewear or leisurewear? Over the years the Friendsgiving event, aptly named “Volksgiving,” has morphed from a traditional turkey dinner to a Thanksgiving bite-size appetizer competition. Attendees vote on the best Thanksgiving-themed appetizer of the night. For the first couple years,…

  • Thanksgiving Brunch

We switch off celebrating Thanksgiving with my in-laws and my parents ever year (as do my siblings). This year we are celebrating with my parents, but on our off years, we started the tradition of a Thanksgiving brunch. I thought it might be fun to share the different brunch foods we have served over the years in case you aren’t able to celebrate with your loved ones with a typical Thanksgiving dinner this year or if you are just looking for a fun and yummy way to kick off your Thanksgiving day! None of these recipes take much effort to make because I don’t have time for that and they…

  • Turkey Potpie Soup and Thanksgiving Alternatives

Unfortunately with COVID-19 numbers skyrocketing, we all need to get creative this year on how we celebrate Thanksgiving safely. Our plan is to share a meal and give thanks outdoors at our parents’ home with the fireplace crackling and heaters running. Trying to keep a traditional turkey dinner warm outside and served COVID-safe, however, proved just too difficult. So, instead, we are having turkey soup (that can be kept warm in a slow cooker). And, because nobody wants to miss out on Thanksgiving leftovers, we are picking up ready-made Thanksgiving dinner from Delille Cellars that we can take home with us to enjoy the following day. Last year, the Seattle…

  • Our Fall Instant Pot Recipes on Repeat

Anyone else needing comfort food today after watching last night’s (and this morning’s) election results roll in? We have two Instant Pot recipes for you that Mallory and I have had on repeat this fall: Beef & Wheat Berry Soup and Chicken & Rice. These recipes are the very definition of comfort food! Are you Team Instant Pot or Team Slow Cooker? I am a diehard member of the Slow Cooker Fan Club. The amount of time it takes my Instant Pot to pressurize drives me bananas. My expectations are very high for an appliance that includes the words “Instant” in its name and claims to fully cook food in…

  • Last Minute Spooky Halloween Brownies

Trick out your treats with a plate of spooky brownies! Seven simple and tasty brownies that will keep you right on theme. These last minute Halloween brownies are easy enough for your kids to help with and are the perfect spooky dessert for festivities at home. All of the brownies you see in this post came from one 9 x 13 pan of brownies, require zero baking skills and make for a fun, festive and tasty dessert that do the trick for any spooky occasion! Happy Baking! Witch’s Brew Brownies (A.k.a extra Halloween candy brownies) So simple they really don’t need an explanation; just bake your brownies, a mix or…

  • Halloween Cocktails

Help us decide what Halloween cocktails to serve! As Megan mentioned before in this post about our COVID Halloween plans, we always serve something orange or pumpkin-based for dinner on Halloween. This year, we are going to try Freutcake’s pumpkin chicken enchiladas , so naturally, we are going to have a little Mexican Halloween Fiesta/Day of the Dead party. I plan to make some very naughty nachos to accompany the enchiladas, and might even go crazy with a little queso. Now that we have our food menu established, next comes the Boo-ooze. Given it’s a Fiesta and we love a theme, we will likely serve some sort of margarita, but we…

  • Hello GOURD-Geous!

Its Monday and just in case you are looking for a little dinner menu inspiration for the upcoming week, we have two fall-inspired squash recipe ideas for you to try: Stuffed Acorn Squash and Spaghetti Squash Chicken Pad Thai. Did you know that squash is technically a fruit because it contains seeds and comes from the flowering part of plants? Definitely did not learn that fun fact in law school! Or that there are over 100 different types of squash? Apparently we are really slacking in only offering recipes for two varietals. The Stuffed Acorn Squash recipe is an amalgamation of a few different recipes I found on the internet.…

  • Soup Season

It’s officially soup season so I am sharing my three favorite soups I make on repeat all Winter long. All of these soups are super easy to make, have a good amount of veggies or greens and are regularly requested by Chris! I noticed in the process of writing this post that all my favorite soups have two things in common: SAUSAGE and PARMESAN. This shouldn’t surprise me at all; Chris likes to make fun of how much I love parmesan. I highly recommend serving all of these soups with a rustic baguette. YUM. I love all soup but I REALLY love these because they are delicious enough to double…

  • Say Hello to October with Pumpkin Bars

October rolls around and all we want to eat is pumpkin! Yesterday being October 1st provided the perfect excuse to make our first pumpkin dessert of the season: Sue’s Pumpkin Bars. Our mom has been baking this pumpkin bar recipe for years which was originally given to her by our dear family friend Sue Teague. Sue, we (and Joe!) cannot thank you enough for sharing these. Each bite is not only delicious but just screams “fall is here”. We like to garnish these pumpkin bars with candy corn to make them extra festive. And really any excuse to have a bag of candy corn lying around the house is okay…
