Celebrate the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale with a Vine Street Cocktail

TGIF! We made it! And we have the perfect Friday night COVID activity for you to celebrate with! Make yourself a Nordstrom Vine Street Cocktail, get comfy on the couch, and browse Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale items that are available to preview starting today (July 24). For the first time due to COVID-19 and in lieu of a print catalog, Nordstrom is giving giving everyone the ability to preview all sale items online. This way, you have plenty of time to save your favorites to your Wish List and check out faster when it’s time to shop. Plus you cannot get into any trouble because the Anniversary Sale items are not available to purchase for a few more weeks (depending on your Nordy Club cardmember status). This year’s sale dates are August 19th through 30th, but early access starts August 4. Happy browsing!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale holds a special place in our hearts. We have been shopping the sale with our mom since we were young girls. Eagerly anticipating the appearance of the Nordstrom catalog in the mail; dog-earring ALL the pages; waking up at the crack dawn (pre-online shopping days) to be at the store when it opened at 6 a.m.; walking into the store with Nordstrom sales clerks clapping on both sides like you were running through the Super Bowl tunnel; finding that special salesperson that would pull Anniversary Sale items ahead of time and whisk you to her special hiding place in the fire stairwell where she hid your purchases; and, with the advent of online shopping, setting an alarm to wake-up at midnight when the Anniversary Sale went live on Nordstrom’s website.

Shockingly, our husbands are not nearly as excited about the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Chris tells a hilarious story about one of he and Mallory’s first years of marriage and trying to calmly discuss a shopping budget for the sale. Mallory openly admits that the conversation devolved into inflammatory statements, including “You are ruining a Nelson Family tradition!”

During the COVID quarantine, Nordstrom has been posting a few recipe videos on its Instagram account (@nordstrom) including the recipe for its most popular boozy beverage served in stores – the Vine Street Cocktail. What better time to try making this cocktail than the kick-off of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? A combination of Rosé, vodka and Prosecco, now you can serve yourself this delicious cocktail at home while you shop on Nordstrom.com. Cheers!

Vine Street Cocktail

INGREDIENTS

• 1 oz. Rosé
• 1 3/4 oz. Vodka
• 1 3/4 oz. Prosecco
• 5 red grapes plus 2 more for garnish
• 4 large fresh mint leaves plus more for garnish
• 1 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
• 1 oz. Simple Syrup
• Ice

DIRECTIONS

1. Add five grapes and four large mint leaves to cocktail shaker
2. Add lime juice and simple syrup into the cocktail with the grapes and mint leaves.
3. Muddle well.
4. After muddling, add Rosé and Vodka to the cocktail shaker.
5. Add handful of ice and shake well.
6. After shaking, remove lid of cocktail shaker and add Prosecco.
7. Add ice to empty wine glass and double strain cocktail over ice into glass (to remove mint and grape residue).
8. Garnish with a small skewer/toothpick of two grapes and a mint leaf.
