Nike Everything!
Given the choice, Sam and Emma would only wear Nike, all day and everyday! Consequently, Joe only wants to wear Nike too. And I am sure Jack is not far behind. Sorry Mallory!
We are not sure how or why Sam and Emma became so Nike-obsessed. I was one of those obnoxious mothers that really did not let their kids watch any television and they don’t have any older siblings, so where did they even learn about Nike?!?! But, when all else fails, blame your partner….the one exception to my television rule was football games and one of Sam and Emma’s favorite things to do is to watch football with Ryan. I think they may have been influenced by the athletes and branded uniforms…
The Nike obsession has only gotten worse with COVID-19. When in school, Sam and Emma have to uniforms. But with home school, the kids put on Nike clothes the minute they got out of bed. Because we were not going anywhere except for maybe a bike or scooter ride, I didn’t argue about their clothing selection. But, as a result, getting Sam and Emma to wear a pair of jeans now takes considerable effort. Apparently, children are not immune to the leisurewear portion of the COVID epidemic.
Given Sam and Emma’s passion for all things Nike, for the past several Christmases I have capitulated and given each of them a box of Nike items as a gift from Mom and Dad. T-shirts, jackets, shorts, pants, swimsuits, hats, running shoes and even flipflops – Nike items galore. But Nike clothes are not cheap even for children! So to make this gift happen, I scour the sales starting in about August for discounted Nike items.
