Thanksgiving Bar (Cart) Ideas
Bar carts don’t always live up to their potential – but it’s so fun when they do! I think it’s one of the easiest places to make festive in your home. I try to decorate mine for each holiday season because why not – it makes me happy! This is the Target Bar Cart that I’ve had for years – it’s inexpensive but doesn’t look it. But, if you don’t have a bar cart, you can turn part of your kitchen counter into a fun bar area for dinners and holidays too. Here are the essentials you need to style your bar cart (or counter) into a fun little Thanksgiving area that would make anyone happy to see (and Chris WONDERS why we need so many different cocktail glasses).
- Bar Cart
- Wine, Champagne, Booch Craft, and/or the cocktail of your choosing
- Moscow Mule Mugs, champagne glasses or coupes, wine glasses AKA something pretty to drink out of.
- Variety of pumpkins and apples
- All the cocktail napkins.. There are so many great options out there (1, 2, 3)
- Cocktail Straws
- And then all the fun festive extras…
I was very pleased my Orange and Pomegranate Booch Craft are the perfect Thanksgiving colors. And it doesn’t get more thanksgiving-y than these Copper Moscow Mule Mugs. They should have fun straws too (I just ordered more).
I collect/hoard cocktail napkins and I always try to keep snacks (and a cold bottle of champs) on hand for last minute visitors. Obviously things have changed with COVID but I still keep snacks (& champs) on hand for my quaranteam. And everyone should have a cute set of appetizer bowls (and plates)!
Save Water. Drink Champagne. and be thankful about it :). And unless we are getting real fancy, I always use these stemless champagne glasses – otherwise we break them. And up your apple cider mimosa game with a festive apple tray and a juice carafe!
I feel like wine and cheese are the glue holding my life together. Just me? I’m kidding (kind of) but my cheese plate says it. Always give thanks for a good bottle of wine… Kathy Primitives makes some great wine tags! And cheese and cookies on a bar cart are always a good idea! Oh, and in a perfect world I would have a fresh pie on my Thanksgiving bar cart but Milkbar cookies had to do for pictures purposes. Pottery Barn also has the best faux fur wine bags – they are on major sale right now and make all bar carts and bottles of wine more fun.
Everyone should have a pretty pitcher! Great for cocktails and makes a fun vase!
Did you know there are glasses specifically for Prosecco? Here they are and I love them! Crate and Barrel doesn’t have them anymore but they do have these pretty French champagne glasses that are similar. This is my favorite wine bucket that is a permanent fixture on my bar cart and I’d LOVE to add this vintage champagne bucket to my collection.
Does Veuve, my favorite leopard plates and coupe champagne glasses pass for a Thanksgiving bar cart? Not really, but… Press for Champagne!
And last but not least, if you don’t have a bar cart, set up a little bar on your kitchen counter, table, or on top of a buffet. Add a bar sign like this, this, or this and you are set! And how great is this wall sign? Adding it to my Christmas list.
I hope this gets you in the Thanksgiving spirit! The Thanksgiving cocktails we will be serving on my bar cart will be up on the blog shortly! XO

The apple cider mimosa bar cart for Joe’s 3rd birthday last year! I love a pretty beverage tub (1, 2, and 3).
