Where To Eat During The Pandemic

My younger brother, Michael, is the real chef and foodie in our family and has been sending us suggestions about his favorite local restaurants that are offering great food and deals during this crazy time. I couldn’t keep track of all of his yummy ideas so I asked him to write a post for us. So, if you live in the Seattle area and are tired of cooking – pull up this post! If you are going to venture out of your home these days, you might as well make it for something really good!

I will admit that I love cooking more than the average person- but even I have grown tired of trying to create meals every day.  The good news is that there are many fun creative pick-up and delivery restaurant options to satisfy every appetite.  Seattle restaurants are exhausting options to maintain their customers, so they are bringing customer favorites to their to-go menus.  I have tried to support my favorite Seattle and neighborhood restaurants and here is what I have found:

The resource I always use to track restaurant openings, closings, and latest Covid delivery and pick up options is Seattle Eater. The Seattle Council also put out its own map of restaurants offering some service during the shutdown.

I like to know where my meat comes from, so I always try to buy as close to the source as possible.  This enables me to support good agricultural practices and local farms and usually results in a tastier product. Here are a few of my favorite spots for meat and fish:

1) Fishermans Wharf  (Fresh catch. The freshest fish in Seattle with everything that’s in Season, halibut, salmon, cod, etc)

2) The Shambles

3) Beast and Cleaver

To go Meals – For Make it yourself

  • Bateau  – Bateau is one of the best steak houses in Seattle, and is offering make at home and to go dinners. Bateau is known for its burger, and you can pick up the burger supplies for $40. But if you have burger supplies, and want a less expensive alternative-you can buy the burger meat for $8/lb.  Bateau is also offering all of its grass-fed, dry aged, and house cut beef for 50% off. Add to your order the Bateau salad, and you have a delicious meal.
  • Mio Posto Pizza Dough – For only $4 you can get pizza dough to create an at-home pizza with whatever toppings you choose. The dough is inexpensive and easy to cook in the oven on a pizza stone, rolled out on a sheet pan, or in a cast iron skillet.

Here are a few of my other favorite places offering to-go and pick-up options for reasonable prices. (For the latest menus, I recommend going to their Instagram or website)

Megan and I aren’t quite as “with it” when it comes to the best knew restaurants these days but we have had some great experiences with take out over the last month and are trying to support our favorite spots to keep them in business!
