Aged to Perfection. Blind Birthday Wine Tasting for Buff

We had the best time on Saturday evening celebrating our Dad’s 71st birthday with a blind wine tasting! Laura, our soon to be sister-in-law, had done this in the past with her girlfriends and suggested we do it for our wine-loving father’s birthday and it was so fun! It made for such an easy and fun way to celebrate – and way more fun than your typical birthday dinner!

My mom and I saw this pandemic cheese board/clip board idea on Instagram and thought it would be perfect for walking around outdoors and wine tasting. Megan printed out these cute little wine score cards and done! How fun our cheese clip boards?!

Each one of my siblings and their better half brought a nice bottle of wine to put in a brown lunch sack so no one new what we were tasting. We even through a two buck chuck (Charles Shaw) bottle of red to see if we could throw our Wino of a father off and it worked! I believe his words were: “this is a great pizza wine” haha. And in case anyone was wondering, Michael brought a T-Vine Red Blend from Napa which seemed to be everyone’s favorite. Also, I should mention that I am terrible at guessing any wine varietal and truly have no clue; I only know if I enjoy it or not! That being said, it’s still so fun! You don’t have to know anything about wine to have fun with it.

Chef Mike was there to help my Dad’s wish of a steak and lamb chop dinner come to fruition and we topped it all off with a Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream cake – another one of the birthday boy’s requests.

We hope you all had a great weekend! Let us know if you decide to give blind wine tasting a try! XO
