Alderbrook Resort and Spa

You can’t beat the views at the Alderbrook Resort and Spa. Have you been to this little slice of heaven? We spent our second family reunion at Alderbrook last weekend and loved it just as much as we did the first time. Here are all the reasons why we think you should consider it for your next family get away.

The Ferry Ride

Born and raised in the Seattle area, I realized that I really never thought about how unique, cool and fun ferries are! But really they only exist in like 3 major cities (don’t quote me on that but its not many)! The ferries are a great reminder of the gorgeous place we get to call home. You can drive or ferry to Alderbrook and I highly you recommend you start your trip off with a lovely ferry ride to Bremerton and then it is only a 45 minute drive to Alderbrook. The kids love it, and like I said, I was even reminded what a cool experience it is.. And let’s be real, it’s way prettier than driving through Tacoma.

The Cottages at Alderbrook

You truly can’t be the views OR the Cottages at Alderbrook. While the lodge itself is lovely, the cottage set up could not be better for families. Each two bedroom cottages has its own kitchen and looks out to a giant lawn and the beach and water. The lawn is beyond ideal for the kids; especially when our extra large family get to rent the majority of the cottages. The kids all get to play together on the grass that is set up with every lawn game imaginable, s’more pits, picnic tables, and the occasional activity hosted by the resort. Oddly enough, my oldest Joe played Bingo put on by Alderbrook and LOVED it. He sat still for a solid hour playing Bingo with strangers.. It was equally shocking and amazing. See the picture below. I also have to mention the hours the kids spend on the beach hunting for crabs, building motes, watching seals and sea planes fly in and out!

If you go…

A few things to know if you do decide to venture down to Alderbrook:

  • BYOB all of the best s’more supplies
  • Alderbrook has two great restaurants on sight with great local seafood options and we love eating at the more casual restaurant and bar right over the water
  • Go to Union City Market (just a mile down the road) for a mimosa, local snacks and/or speciality grocery items
  • The kids will love the ice cream at the Union Country Store (right across from Union City Market and 2 Margaritas Restaurant)
  • Stop by the Robin Hood Village Resort bar for a burger and drink!
  • The cottages have full kitchens so you can bring all the kid’s favorite snacks with you (not to mention your own bottles of wine)!
  • Buy the cute coordinating Tshirts from Etsy
