Nordstrom Tomato Basil Soup and Parmesan Garlic Crostini and Anniversary Sale, Oh My!
Today is not only our Mom’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Lori!) but also our first day to shop the 2021 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Much to our husbands’ chagrin, Mallory and I completely buy into Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale tag line “Its more than a sale, its an event.” And while boggers everywhere will likely break the Internet today posting all of their sale picks, I thought it would be fun to celebrate Nordstrom by sharing a funny related anecdote about our Grandma Barbie before diving into our this year’s Sale picks. Skip to the bottom of this post if you are just here for the Sale picks (no judgment!). Growing up, Grandma…

Walla Walla Wedding
Our little Michael brother is married! How is that possible?!?! Known as BBQ Mike, Pizza Mike, Dirty Mike, The Big Skillet, Son of a Buff (our dad’s name is Buff, story for another day!), I cannot believe that the baby of our family got hitched. I still remember when our parents brought him home from the hospital. Mallory and I spent last weekend in Walla Walla, Washington celebrating Michael and his lovely bride Laura. It was an incredible wedding – beautiful, delicious, fun and HOT. All of the wedding and Walla Walla details are below. The wedding and all its festivities took place at the Abeja Winery and Inn. The…

Frosted Lemonade
Happy Friday everyone! Its supposed to be a warm weekend in Seattle (I actually see eighties in the forecast!!!) and I have the perfect family-friendly beverage for you to celebrate with: FROSTED LEMONADE. For years, the only beverage my kids would drink other than milk and water was lemonade. Unlike Mallory’s boys that have been asking for bubbly water since they could talk, Sam and Emma would not touch carbonation or most other juices. 7-Up is only a recent addition to these very particular 8-year-olds’ repertoire. Therefore, when a recipe for Whipped Lemonade popped up on my Instagram feed from delish, I thought it would be the perfect summer treat…

Bicicletta (“Bicycle”) Cocktail
We have a new cocktail for you on this Friday – the Bicicletta -“bicycle” in Italian. And I am obsessed in the “had a Bicicletta each night this week” sort of way! Such a refreshingly light cocktail to enjoy as the evenings get warmer. In her 2016 book “Spritz: Italy’s Most Iconic Aperitivo Cocktail, with Recipes,” Talia Baiocchi, writes that the Bicicletta dates to 1930s Italy, and was supposedly named “for the mode of transportation in which its drinkers toddle home after several drinks at the local cafe.” Mixing this refreshing Italian aperitivo is as easy as riding a bike (pun absolutely intended!). Simply combine dry white wine and Campari,…

A “Rosé Before the Big Day” Bridal Shower
We had such a fun weekend celebrating our brother Michael’s bride-to-be, Laura. While many of you know that Mallory and I live across the street from each other, you may be surprised to learn that Laura also only lives a few short walkable blocks away. She is the younger sister of one of my brother-in-law Chris’ best friends and attended the same elementary school that my children do now. We are talking less than one degree of separation here. As a result of her proximity and simply because we love her company, Mallory, Laura and I have spent many an afternoon and evening sipping glasses (notice the plural use of…

Patriotic Cocktails
Happy Friday of Memorial Day Weekend! We LOVE a themed cocktail here at Lets Wine About It Sister. So, to kick off the holiday weekend, Mallory and I taste tested two different red, white and blue cocktails. – the Americano and Strawberry Tequila Soda. We highly recommend you try one of our patriotic cocktails at your Memorial Day BBQ this weekend. Aptly named the Americano, it is believed this cocktail was first served in a bar in Milan, Italy during the 1860s. The name stems from its popularity among American tourists especially during the Prohibition era, when Americans absconded to Europe in droves, thirsty for good drinks. Whatever its origin,…

Spring Sips Inspiration
Its Friday and you deserve a cocktail! And, if you are anything like us, when weather turns a little bit warm, that red wine you have been drinking all winter long suddenly becomes less appealing. All you really want is a cold cocktail (or chilled glass of rosé). Below are our favorite warm weather cocktails now that the sunshine has finally made an appearance in Seattle. Because we all need some spring sips inspiration with Memorial Day Weekend just around the corner and sun in the Seattle forecast for tomorrow! Frozen Gin & Tonics Mallory and I like this Frozen GT recipe from @sugarandcharm so much that we requested them…

Palm Springs Bachelorette
Reentry after a long weekend away is never easy. Reentry after spending four days in Palm Springs with 100-degree heat on a floatie in a pool with a drink in hand celebrating our future sister-in-law Laura (sans children) was HARD! But we are back, laundry catch-up has begun, a few necessary groceries have been purchased, school lunches have been made, a few emails have been responded to, and the welcome home hugs from the kids were epic! The very talented duo of Kiersten (@kierstko) and Sydney (@syd_mcintyre), college sorority sisters of the bride, created an epic bachelorette weekend in Palm Springs. Our four-bedroom Airbnb house was decorated to the nines…

Two Local Gems
We are a day late posting because #MothersDay, but during the few two weekends we have frequented two Northeast Seattle gems that we would be remiss not to share: The Bryant Corner Café & Bakery and Tubs Gourmet Subs. Plus, local restaurants need ALL our love right now, so if you find yourself Northeast Seattle make sure to stop by! The Bryant Corner Café & Bakery We took the whole crew to The Bryant Corner Café & Bakery for brunch two Sundays ago. With outdoor seating available, bunny pancakes for the kids, and large yummy cocktails (mimosas and Bloody Marys for the win!) that come with umbrellas and plastic monkeys…

Strawberries, Strawberries Everywhere!
Strawberry season is here! And every grocery store I enter right now has strawberries on sale. Last week, needing to use up the abundance of strawberries in my fridge, I tried two new delicious Instagram strawberry recipes that are must tries while strawberry season is upon us. First, I tried @ainttooproudtomeg’s Roasted Strawberries & Burrata served with grilled balsamic chicken thighs and toasted rosemary bread. This dish was heavenly. Cannot recommend highly enough! Roasted Strawberries & Burrata 32oz strawberries (hulled but left whole) Note: The strawberries I roasted were HUGE. Next time, I think I will cut the larger of the strawberries in half before I roast. 2 tablespoons balsamic…
