  • Celebrate the Holidays with a Snow Globe Cake

Do you have a friend or loved one with a December birthday that you would like to celebrate in a special way? Or perhaps you are looking for a fun holiday baking activity with your kids? We have a recommendation for you: make a snow globe cake! This baking project is a simple and fun with a definite WOW factor. Kids can help make the cake layers, spreading the frosting (if you are brave!), putting on the coconut snowflakes, and designing your snow globe scene. And we had time to make this cake because we, unlike our mother, buy our children’s’ gingerbread houses prebuilt instead of tracing, cutting out by…

  • Gingerbread Houses

With many of the fun Christmas activities shut down this year, we are making the most out of festive activities at home… like gingerbread houses! It’s an easy activity the kids love and it takes relatively low effort on my part especially because I buy the houses pre-built. Just about every store carries some sort of gingerbread house kit these days so just keep your eyes open. This Gingerbread mansion that Costco carried is my personal fav but we tried to get a few more and they seem to be sold out everywhere now! Target also carries a cute prebuilt gingerbread house but be warned it does not come with…

  • Holiday Traditions

The holidays are our favorite because of all of the fun traditions that come along with them! Our mom is the Queen of Christmas so we grew up doing all of the fun things and we have managed to keep a lot of it up for nearly 40 years. So if you by chance are looking for a fun tradition to add to your holiday itinerary, here are a few of our family favorites, including a pajama fashion show of Christmases past! Matching Pajamas on Christmas Eve One of my very favorite Christmas traditions is matching pajamas. I know matching family pjs are all the rage now, but our mother…

  • Holiday Book Recommendations

The pile of holiday books on our coffee table in the family room gets taller and more precarious each year. Okay, if I am being honest, its at least three tall, lopsided piles. When the holidays are over, I pack up the books along with all our holiday decorations and put them away until the following year. Sam and Emma love when the holiday books get unpacked – they read and pour over the pages for hours – treating them like old friends they haven’t seen in quite awhile. Admittedly, I buy too many books for Sam & Emma, holiday and otherwise. (Yes, I was that kid that brought a…

  • Thanksgiving Recap & Baked Caramel Corn Recipe

Despite being in the middle of pandemic, we made the best of Thanksgiving and our mom hosted a lovely al fresco Covid-friendly afternoon. So, even though Thanksgiving has come and gone and it’s officially Christmas season (wahoo) we thought the details from my mom’s Thanksgiving lunch were worth mentioning because they would work well for any gathering these days! And given that we will still be dealing with this in a month at Christmas, uuuuugh, this could be helpful as everyone starts to think about their Covid Christmas plans. As Megan previously mentioned in this post about our alternative Thanksgiving plans, my mom made the YUMMIEST Turkey Potpie Soup and…

  • Nike Everything!

Given the choice, Sam and Emma would only wear Nike, all day and everyday! Consequently, Joe only wants to wear Nike too. And I am sure Jack is not far behind. Sorry Mallory! We are not sure how or why Sam and Emma became so Nike-obsessed. I was one of those obnoxious mothers that really did not let their kids watch any television and they don’t have any older siblings, so where did they even learn about Nike?!?! But, when all else fails, blame your partner….the one exception to my television rule was football games and one of Sam and Emma’s favorite things to do is to watch football with…

  • Toddler Bath Time Ideas

After a very rainy few days, Chris out of town for the week, and extra long baths for the boys everyday – I realized toddler bath time deserves a post! Bath time has a lot of potential… even more so during this pandemic! The water, bubbles, and contained kids make for a no mess, easy and fun activity! So here it is… all the items I’ve purchased and what we do to make bath time more fun and take up WAY more time (ESPECIALLY on rainy miserable days when there is nothing else to do). Bath Crayons – These are always a hit. Just draw on the tub and it…

  • FORE! Joe turns FOUR

FORE! We had the best time celebrating our big boy turning FOUR this weekend at Willows Run Golf Course in Redmond. We ate treats, sipped draft beer, and played putt putt golf of course. If you haven’t been, it’s a great golf complex with a fun eighteen-hole themed putting course in addition to two regular courses and a par three family nine-hole course. I grew up playing putt putt golf here and it was fun to bring our boys back! As for treats, I served an assortment of mini Trophy Cupcakes with golf ball ring toppers, small bags of the best Chex Mix in cellophane bags, and various appetizers and…

  • Fall-Themed School Lunch Ideas

Its Monday! And with Sam and Emma having gone back to in-person school last week, Monday means I have a whole week of school-lunch making ahead of me. At this point, you have probably figured out that we love a theme here at Lets Wine About It Sister and school lunches are no exception! Let me start by saying this post is in no way intended to inspire any sort of Mom-guilt. No person should feel any obligation to make elaborate-themed lunches. Getting you kids to school with a lunch everyday should in and of itself be applauded. So yes, I am sure many people will roll their eyes (my…

  • Boo & Boo-ooze Bags

Halloween will be a little different this year but we are going to do ALL the boo-zy things to make it fun. Have you heard of Boo bags or getting Booed? It’s just a fun little Halloween treat bag to anonymously spoil your friends and neighbors. Because what’s more fun than arriving at home to find a little treat bag on your door? Or in this case, a treat bag for your kids and a boo-ooze bag for you! The twins were Booed last year and LOVED it and arriving home to a drink on my doorstep sounds pretty great. So, naturally Megan ordered all of Target to make her Boo…
