  • Happy Valentines Day!

We hope this post finds you well! It’s been so long since our last post I’ve forgotten how to do this! Life has been crazy but we are hoping to get back into the swing of things with the blog again. Especially with Valentines day just a few days away – we felt like we had to share all the fun festive things we are doing. So, here are our valentines plans – what we are making, gifting and eating! Valentines Day Eats If you remember, Megan and Ryan’s anniversary is on Valentine’s day and each year they take turns cooking for each other rather than going out and battling…

  • Thanksgiving Leftovers Recipe Inspiration

Are you stumped by what to do with your Thanksgiving leftovers? Do you open your fridge and groan at the mountain of Tupperware taking up valuable shelf real estate? Maybe its because I never actually host Thanksgiving at my house, but I love looking for creative recipes that use Thanksgiving leftovers. Heck, I even separately roast a turkey breast just so I can have Thanksgiving leftovers in my refrigerator. Last night, in honor of my love for Thanksgiving leftovers, I made Joy The Baker’s Thanksgiving Turkey Pot Pie. It was delicious, but I highly recommend using all my recipe shortcuts. I used Trader Joe’s frozen pie crust, mirepoix (instead of…

  • The Baby Buffalo Cocktail

Fun Friday fact: Did you all know our Dad’s name is Buff? Yes, you read that correctly. Not Buzz or Bud, its actually Buff. Can you imagine telling boys in high school that your Dad’s name is Buff? And the ensuing comments: “Does he sit out on the porch in a rocking chair with a shot gun too?” To which I would reply with an exaggerated eye roll, “No, but he does occasionally drive a very large tractor down Avondale Road.” To be clear, Avondale Road is a main thoroughfare in our hometown of Redmond, WA with a posted speed limit of 40mph. One lane in either direction at the…

  • Suncadia Harvest Festival & Fall Maple Apple Cheddar Croissant Bake

I have the perfect breakfast for a festive fall weekend. My Maple Apple Cheddar bake combines buttery croissants, apples, maple ham, eggs, and cheddar cheese to create the most delicious fall breakfast.  Prepare it the night before and just pop it in the oven for an easy overnight breakfast dish everyone will love! It was the perfect way to start our day before ALL of the fall activities. The harvest festival at Suncadia is on point: pumpkin patch, monster truck rides AND hay wagon rides, face painting, a live band and line dancing, balloon animals, hay maze, pony rides, bounce house, touch-a-truck, tasty treats, petting zoo, a bar for the…

  • Let’s Bake Potatoes

First thing’s first: this is the best baked potato recipe from Gimme Some Oven — perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. I didn’t use to eat the potato skins – but now I do! Although to be completely honest, I usually just use my hands to rub olive oil on them before putting them in the oven because I’m lazy and I don’t have to deal with piping hot potatoes mid way through baking. Anyways, it took me years to realize a baked potatoes full potential. So quit only topping your potatoes with butter or sour cream and turn them into an easy, healthy and…

  • Fall Fiesta

Its Friday and I am ready for a fiesta (or a siesta, but then again what mom isn’t?!?!). But really, we are in fact going to an outdoor Fall Fiesta party tonight (Mallory is my date) that I bought as an auction item from my children’s school fundraiser almost two years ago (thanks COVID). Mallory and I love a fiesta! Exhibits A, B and C below. Which really makes me wonder why we haven’t jumped on the Fall Fiesta-themed band wagon before?!?! Mums are the perfect fiesta-themed décor, pumpkins fit right into the color scheme, Trader Joe’s Fall Leaf Corn Tortilla Chips are the perfect seasonal appetizer, and there is…

  • 5 Seasonal Sips

According to my preschooler, Fall doesn’t technically start until Wednesday but it felt very much like Fall this last weekend. We spent the rainy weekend in a Suncadia cabin with friends and it was the perfect time to break out the fall cocktails. Other than when the ladies escaped to the winery for a quick happy hour, I wore these joggers, sweatshirt, running shoes (size down) and Zara vest/vest the entire weekend. I’ll be ordering another sweat set and will be living in them this fall – I highly recommend. Back to cocktails, here is what we will sipping this season – all perfectly aligned with our fall aesthetic, of…

  • Soup-tember

It’s soup-tember! Megan and I whipped up our first pots of soup for the season this past Sunday and I’m just finishing the last bowl of leftovers as I write this. Yum. We love soup season around here – they are easy to make, have a good of amount of veggies and leftovers make for easy healthy lunches all week. My first soup of the season was one I make all through the Fall and Winter, Mama Mia Minestrone (originally from a kids cookbook so you know it’s easy) and Megan’s was her mini meatball and veggie soup – a fool proof recipe she made up herself! We rounded up…

  • Is it a Tequila Spritz or Aperol Margarita?

Cheers to Friday! In celebration of the long Labor Day weekend ahead of us, I wanted to share a new cocktail I have been making at home. Is it a Tequila Spritz, an Aperol Margarita, or something else entirely? Unclear but its really good. The pandemic has taught me that I really like tequila-based cocktails and Aperol Spritzes. But, while I love a spritz, often times I don’t want to open a bottle of champagne or prosecco to make myself one cocktail in the evening. And, after a long day, sometimes even making a margarita sounds like a lot of work. As does using a cocktail shaker (or admittedly, washing…

  • Nothing Bundt Cakes And Bundlettes

Let me tell you about my favorite cake….Nothin’ Bundt Cakes. I swear I’m really not even a cake person BUT while living in Santa Monica in graduate school 10 years ago (woah)… It was love at first bite. This adorable little shop on Montana Street was always offering samples and I took full advantage of those tasty little samples. Naturally every guest that came into town I had to introduce to to Nothing Bundt Cakes and of course one of those guests was Megan. Megan was equally wow-ed but the best bundt cakes ever and even looked into franchising opportunities for a hot minute – not kidding! While our dreams…
