COVID Wedding Details

Planning a COVID wedding? I’m sorry! We celebrated our brother and new sister-in-law Betsy last weekend in Chelan in what was originally supposed to be a beautiful 300 person wedding, plus a weekend of events and celebrating. After much heartache, they decided to proceed with a small family wedding ceremony and dinner. We picked up on a few details that worked well for keeping everyone safe during these scary times and thought someone else might appreciate the tips if they find themselves in a similar predicament.

First things first, my parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Karma Vineyards (where I got married!) and offered individual boxes of Fran’s Chocolate Salted Caramels that served as place settings and a party favor. I’m assuming anyone reading this has had a salted caramel from Fran’s but if you haven’t – it’s time. We should also note that Fran’s will tie any color ribbon on the box that you would like! For appetizers, each guest was given a small bowl of nuts and cheese plates were placed at every table. Every guest was given a pair of mini serving tongs to use to help themselves to the cheese without accidentally touching anything else on the plate!

For dessert, our mom offered mini-boxed blueberry pies and mini vanilla ice creams to each guest. The pies were delicious and cute. Deb’s Delights, a local Chelan bakery, made the 4-inch pies for this occasion as well as my wedding cake and macaroons. Deb has always been a delight (no pun intended) to work with and her desserts are to die for!

The original ceremony and reception were supposed to take place at Larc Hill Vineyard Ranch, one of the newest wineries and most beautiful venues in Lake Chelan. If considering a Lake Chelan wedding, I highly recommend you check out this new gorgeous venue! The grounds and facilities are brand new and beautiful and includes a home and apartment that can be rented with the facilities that are just as lovely as the event space. Both bridal and groomsmen parties got ready at the venue the day of the wedding and there was more than enough room for us all. Given the times, the small family ceremony was held at Betsy’s parent’s home on the water and the dinner following the ceremony was at Larc Hill.

Wooden name tags were tied onto each guest’s water and wine glasses at every place setting. Not only they were they attractive, but this was a great way to keep track of your glass!

Local Chelan Fudge packaged in small boxes was offered as wedding favors. We love local and the different flavors and individual packages were fun and COVID friendly. Just grab and go! If you are in Chelan and want to try this delicious fudge, you can find it at the Culinary Apple.

Again, my condolences go out to all the brides and entire wedding industry; I can only imagine scrambling to reschedule or cancel your wedding. Hopefully this will help someone navigate these uncharted waters!
