• Black & Blue Muffins

I baked! And yes, that’s me wearing a sweater with blackberries on it, in front of a blackberry bush, with a blackberry muffin in my hand. Totally normal because its officially blackberry season in Seattle folks. And with the onset of blackberry season, I start dreaming about PCC’s Black & Blue Muffins. Except, PCC stopped making them and while I’m not necessarily upset that my several muffin a week habit came to a halt, the Black & Blue Muffins were so GOOD. So this year, with the onset of blackberry season, I was on a mission to recreate PCC’s Black & Blue Muffin recipe. I think I came pretty close…My…

You can’t beat the views at the Alderbrook Resort and Spa. Have you been to this little slice of heaven? We spent our second family reunion at Alderbrook last weekend and loved it just as much as we did the first time. Here are all the reasons why we think you should consider it for your next family get away. • Mint Chocolate Cold Brew

But first, coffee. My morning mantra and ritual made only better with the addition of Mint Chocolate Cold Brew! I came up with this new recipe for Ryan’s birthday a few weeks ago (his favorite flavor combination is mint & chocolate), but now I am the one obsessed with it. Its a riff on the original Magical Cold Brew recipe that we previously posted here. Highly recommend you try both recipes before summer disappears. Its Friday….treat yourself! Or so said my husband Ryan when he saw me adding whipped cream to the top of my Mint Chocolate Cold Brew this morning. That was until my spray can of whipped cream…

  • Date Night at The Canteen at Camp Canlis

Leave it to the best fine-dining restaurant in Seattle to be the most creative and come up with multiple different Covid-friendly outdoor dining options. The restaurant claimed Camp Canlis, yurt and treehouse dining, smokehouse barbecue fare, is their last creative reinvention now that things are returning to normal but we can hope they keep the creativity flowing! Not only is it nice to have new out door dining options, but it’s also amazing that they are offering more casual and wallet-friendly, yet equally delicious options! Chris and I recently dined at the “Canlis Canteen”, hosted on the lower parking lot, featuring casual menu options like smokehouse barbecue, campfires, BBQ and…

  • Ricotta Toast Off

Have you heard that ricotta toast is the new avocado toast? In the past week, I have read at least five Instagram posts telling me that avocado toast is out and ricotta toast is in. Not one to be left out of a food fad, I challenged Mallory to a “Ricotta Toast Off” over the weekend. What, isn’t this what everyone does on a Saturday evening for dinner?!?! Our “Ricotta Toast Off” consisted of five different ricotta toast recipes. The results are below. For each of the recipes, we used Grand Central Bakery’s Como Bread. A favorite in our household and available at QFC, the Como is an Italian-style hearth…

  • Two new reasons to go to Kenmore: The Lodge at St. Edwards Park & Stoup Brewing

Have you been to Kenmore lately? If not, you have two new reasons to go: The Lodge at St. Edwards Park and Stoup Brewing. The Lodge at St. Edwards Park Why is this cool and worth a trip to Kenmore? Saint Edward Seminary was an institution for developing Catholic priests and it operated for 46 years before closing in 1976. A beautiful 366 acre plot on the shores of Lake Washington owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle until it was sold to the State of Washington to become Saint Edward State Park. So, if you have ever been boating on the far north end of Lake Washington and wonder…

  • Nordstrom Tomato Basil Soup and Parmesan Garlic Crostini and Anniversary Sale, Oh My!

Today is not only our Mom’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Lori!) but also our first day to shop the 2021 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Much to our husbands’ chagrin, Mallory and I completely buy into Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale tag line “Its more than a sale, its an event.” And while boggers everywhere will likely break the Internet today posting all of their sale picks, I thought it would be fun to celebrate Nordstrom by sharing a funny related anecdote about our Grandma Barbie before diving into our this year’s Sale picks. Skip to the bottom of this post if you are just here for the Sale picks (no judgment!). Growing up, Grandma…

  • Arugula Strawberry Salad & Yogurt Chicken

This is such a great summer salad. It goes with everything, it is light and delicious and is so easy to throw together! I made it for my extended family over the weekend with flank steak and I made it for Chris and I with yogurt chicken last night! It will be a hit when you’re hosting and a hit paired with your favorite family recipe AKA yogurt chicken. Yogurt chicken is an oldie but goodie recipe that I forgot about until very recently. It is one of Chris’s very favorites and he requests regularly which works for me because it is super easy and healthy! These two recipes paired…
