Where I like to buy wine!

On Saturday, I was in Metropolitan Market (if I’m being truthful, there are not many Saturdays when I’m not in Metropolitan Market) and noticed the store was advertising its own Red Table Wine Release No. 36 Vintage 2017. For just $10/bottle, it was worth a try. Mallory, Chris, Ryan and I decided Sunday happy hour was a good time to try the bottle (why let it age?). You can also get more info about napa valley vineyards here. Some of the tasting notes are.

Mallory: Nice, easy and drinkable. Enjoyable for $10. *Coming from a less sophisticated palate. 😊

Ryan: Daily drinker.

Mallory: Daily 4pm mom wine. Goes down easy, but all wine does after kids.

Mallory: Two thumbs up for ten bucks. It may give us an excuse to drink more wine than we already do.

Chris: Is that possible?

Megan: Not a huge fan of the nose, but enjoyed first taste on the palate. Fruit forward, smooth, the after taste is a little acidic/bitter. But great option for opening after work on a weeknight.

Ryan: Well balanced blend. Surprisingly really good.

Chris: Need more. And we opened another. Second bottle is yummy.

The group’s verdict: a great value wine for drinking on weekdays or when you only want a glass (or two) but probably not what you want to bring to a dinner party or to open for a special occasion.

While I still buy a fair amount of wine at Metropolitan Market, over the years I have purchased more and more of our wine through two wine email groups – Garagiste and Full Pull Wines. There is no cost to join the email lists – you just sign up and they send you daily emails consisting of their wine offer of the day. I have found that typically their wine prices cannot be beat and if you live in the greater Seattle area, you can save even more by picking up the wine yourself at their warehouse locations in Renton and SoDo. Full Pull focuses on local Washington wines and its up and coming winemakers. I like to drink local! I highly recommend both email lists and enjoy not only the wines but the daily emails describing the wines, winemakers, varietals, wineries, etc.

Where do you like to buy your wine? Grocery store, wine club, or wine email groups? We always like good wine recommendations!
