• Toddler Bath Time Ideas

After a very rainy few days, Chris out of town for the week, and extra long baths for the boys everyday – I realized toddler bath time deserves a post! Bath time has a lot of potential… even more so during this pandemic! The water, bubbles, and contained kids make for a no mess, easy and fun activity! So here it is… all the items I’ve purchased and what we do to make bath time more fun and take up WAY more time (ESPECIALLY on rainy miserable days when there is nothing else to do). Bath Crayons – These are always a hit. Just draw on the tub and it…

  • Our Fall Instant Pot Recipes on Repeat

Anyone else needing comfort food today after watching last night’s (and this morning’s) election results roll in? We have two Instant Pot recipes for you that Mallory and I have had on repeat this fall: Beef & Wheat Berry Soup and Chicken & Rice. These recipes are the very definition of comfort food! Are you Team Instant Pot or Team Slow Cooker? I am a diehard member of the Slow Cooker Fan Club. The amount of time it takes my Instant Pot to pressurize drives me bananas. My expectations are very high for an appliance that includes the words “Instant” in its name and claims to fully cook food in…

  • Favorite Things of 2020

Happy November! We had brunch with our cousin/dear friend Katie over the weekend and were chatting about what we were going to do for our Favorite Things Tea this year. Every holiday season the women in our family get together for a “Favorite Things Tea”. It’s an event I look forward to every holiday season where everyone brings some of their favorite things, gifts are exchanged, and everyone leaves with a number of gifts equal to what they brought! We still aren’t sure what our tea will look like this year given COVID, BUT it did get us thinking about all of our favorite things from 2020! So, if you…

  • Halloween Cocktails

Help us decide what Halloween cocktails to serve! As Megan mentioned before in this post about our COVID Halloween plans, we always serve something orange or pumpkin-based for dinner on Halloween. This year, we are going to try Freutcake’s pumpkin chicken enchiladas , so naturally, we are going to have a little Mexican Halloween Fiesta/Day of the Dead party. I plan to make some very naughty nachos to accompany the enchiladas, and might even go crazy with a little queso. Now that we have our food menu established, next comes the Boo-ooze. Given it’s a Fiesta and we love a theme, we will likely serve some sort of margarita, but we…

  • Hello GOURD-Geous!

Its Monday and just in case you are looking for a little dinner menu inspiration for the upcoming week, we have two fall-inspired squash recipe ideas for you to try: Stuffed Acorn Squash and Spaghetti Squash Chicken Pad Thai. Did you know that squash is technically a fruit because it contains seeds and comes from the flowering part of plants? Definitely did not learn that fun fact in law school! Or that there are over 100 different types of squash? Apparently we are really slacking in only offering recipes for two varietals. The Stuffed Acorn Squash recipe is an amalgamation of a few different recipes I found on the internet.…

  • Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew + Review of Trader Joe’s New Instant Cold Brew Coffee

‘Tis the season of pumpkin spice and admittedly while not PSL fans, we have been curious about Starbucks’ Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. With Trader Joe’s recent release of its Instant Cold Brew Coffee and the fact that we made it to Friday and therefore deserve a treat, we decided to make Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew at home. While we love the Magical Cold Brew Coffee recipe we published here, we were intrigued by the concept of Trader Joe’s new reverse engineered instant cold brew that is freeze dried into crystals designed to be rehydrated. Cold brew that does not require 12+ hours of prep time?!?! I.e., cold brew on demand,…

  • Soup Season

It’s officially soup season so I am sharing my three favorite soups I make on repeat all Winter long. All of these soups are super easy to make, have a good amount of veggies or greens and are regularly requested by Chris! I noticed in the process of writing this post that all my favorite soups have two things in common: SAUSAGE and PARMESAN. This shouldn’t surprise me at all; Chris likes to make fun of how much I love parmesan. I highly recommend serving all of these soups with a rustic baguette. YUM. I love all soup but I REALLY love these because they are delicious enough to double…

  • FORE! Joe turns FOUR

FORE! We had the best time celebrating our big boy turning FOUR this weekend at Willows Run Golf Course in Redmond. We ate treats, sipped draft beer, and played putt putt golf of course. If you haven’t been, it’s a great golf complex with a fun eighteen-hole themed putting course in addition to two regular courses and a par three family nine-hole course. I grew up playing putt putt golf here and it was fun to bring our boys back! As for treats, I served an assortment of mini Trophy Cupcakes with golf ball ring toppers, small bags of the best Chex Mix in cellophane bags, and various appetizers and…

  • COVID Halloween Plans

Unfortunately we will not be trick-or-treating this year due to COVID, but we promised Sam, Emma and Joe that we would come up with something for Halloween that is equally fun and candy-filled. Have you already made your Halloween plans? If not, check out our ideas below for some fun, safe and hopefully germ-free ways to celebrate Halloween this year. As an alternative to trick-or-treating, Sam, Emma and Joe (with Jack probably toddling along behind) will be hunting inside for treat-filled pumpkins with the lights dimmed and using flashlights to guide them. Mallory and I used Sharpies to draw jack-o-lantern faces on orange plastic Easter eggs in which to hide…
