SHE CAN & We Can Do Better Frosé

We spent last week listening and are excited to continue learning and hopefully share a little of the knowledge we gain with you. It seemed appropriate to come back with a new wine recommendation and Frosé recipe from the McBride Sisters – a Black-owned, women-owned, and family-owned company. The first Black Sisters to create and grow a wine company, McBride Sisters is now the largest African-American-owned wine company in the United States.

Because the McBride Sisters write far more eloquently than we do, here is what the Sisters have to say about their wine company:

When we entered the winemaking business, we knew we would face adversity––breaking into a male-dominated industry as two Black women is NOT easy. Taking inspiration from our two strong mothers and combining our determined, fearless personalities, our mission became clear: we would transform the industry through leading by example and cultivating community, one great wine at a time. We envisioned a true Sisterhood where women could bond over their achievements and a good bottle of Rosé.

Chasing a dream is a never-ending marathon that takes dedication and support. Each day we think about how we can create uplifting, positive experiences for women. We want to encourage women to color outside the lines, to never settle, and to empower each other, because, as we always say, empowered women empower women.

A wine business with a message and story we can definitely get behind. And McBride Sisters’ SHE CAN Rosé is good! We highly recommend you pick it up the next time you are headed to an event where wine is a must, but bottles are frowned upon. After trying the SHE CAN Rosé, we are also excited to taste the McBride Sisters’ sauvignon blanc, red blend, and brut rosé.

And as a new follow for us on Instagram, we were thrilled to discover @mcbridesisters had posted a Frosé recipe. If summer ever arrives in Seattle, we highly recommend you try it. The SHE CAN Frosé is a must add to your summer cocktail menu. We (and our husbands) enjoyed it immensely!

SHE CAN Frosé

Ingredients:

  • 1 – 750ml bottle of Rosé (we used two cans of McBride Sisters’ SHE CAN Rosé that we found at the NE Seattle Safeway on 45th Street)
  • 8 large fresh strawberries
  • 1 Tbsp honey

Directions:

  1. Pour 2/3 cup of rose into a glass and set aside for when serving
  2. Remove the tops of the strawberries and cut them in half
  3. Combine remaining rose, strawberries and honey in a blender and blend until smooth
  4. Pour mixture through a strainer and into a covered baking dish and place into the freezer for 6 hours or overnight
  5. Place frozen mixture back into a blender. Blend until fluffy (we added approximately ½ cup of leftover rose into the blender with the frozen mixture to make the blender run smoothly) and pour into a glass. Add an extra splash of rose, garnish with a strawberry, and enjoy.

We are still on the hunt for a Frosé recipe that does not require a long period of freezing ahead of time. Because, if we are being honest, we do not typically preplan our cocktail menu the day before unless we are throwing a party. If you have any great Frosé recipe recommendations that can be made day of, please send them our way!
