Highlights from Megan’s Birthday Weekend
No one should be surprised that we spent the weekending wining and dining with the birthday girl! Here are the highlights: Chateau Igloo Wine Tasting Who doesn’t want to sip wine in a private igloo? The igloo comes complete with a bottle of wine, charcuterie board, speaker and heater! It was shockingly warm and such a unique experience! We ordered a few more of our favorite Ste. Michelle bottles and french fries from the Metropolitan Grill (currently catering the igloos). So fun! Isenhower Cellars Before heading home, we also had to stop by Isenhower Cellars new tasting room in Woodinville. Exciting to have more great Walla Walla wine open a…

Super Bowl Wine and Chip Pairing
Unless the Seahawks are in the Super Bowl, I’m only watching for the commercials, snacks, booze and half time show. I saw @samanthasommelier post an ad on Instagram with Walmart for a chip and wine pairing and thought it was genius; clearly I needed to try my own version! So, when I had zero plans the last Sunday playoff game (and Chris and Joe were planning on watching it) I decided it was the perfect time for my chip and wine pairing. I have never bought this many chips in my life but naturally this was the perfect excuse to buy all my favorite kinds: Cool Ranch Doritos, Hint of…

We Tried FitVine…
And you should too! Yesterday, Mallory bought a bottle of FitVine’s cabernet sauvignon at Bartell Drugs. I had never heard of “FitVine” until she posted a picture of the wine bottle on our Instagram account. Which means, of course, I immediately typed FitVine into my open web browser to find out what it was and where I too could buy a bottle. True unabashed FOMO rearing its ugly head resulted in my purchase of a bottle of FitVine Prosecco from Total Wine for $15.99. Now we just had to try it… What is FitVine? With a very cute tag line – We Crush Grapes, You Crush Life – FitVine Wine…

Aged to Perfection. Blind Birthday Wine Tasting for Buff
We had the best time on Saturday evening celebrating our Dad’s 71st birthday with a blind wine tasting! Laura, our soon to be sister-in-law, had done this in the past with her girlfriends and suggested we do it for our wine-loving father’s birthday and it was so fun! It made for such an easy and fun way to celebrate – and way more fun than your typical birthday dinner! My mom and I saw this pandemic cheese board/clip board idea on Instagram and thought it would be perfect for walking around outdoors and wine tasting. Megan printed out these cute little wine score cards and done! How fun our cheese…

Wine Tasting at SODO Urbanworks
Looking for something to do during Dry January? Go wine tasting! Ha, but in all seriousness, we had the best day wine tasting at SODO Urbanworks and I highly reccommend you check it out. My brother and future sister-in-law introduced to us to this little gem of an area in South seattle, a place I rarely make it to – I had no idea such a fun little cluster of wineries with outdoor dining existed! There are 10 different tasting rooms, the San Juan Seltzery taproom, and a nine pies pizza restaurant – aka little something for everyone! We tasted outdoors next to fire pits at both Latta Wines and…

Stay At Home Sushi Night
I am by no means a sushi expert but I love to host a stay at home sushi night. Our good friends who moved to Eastern Washington stayed with us last weekend and I was excited to treat them to a tasty Seattle Sushi evening. It’s not a secret that we have great seafood in Seattle and our friends were ready to indulge in some great sushi they have been missing on the Eastside of the mountains. I started the evening by offering Sapporo beer and my spin on a Sake Spritz. The original recipe I found called for Plum Sake and mango-flavored seltzer water, so why not add mango…

Summer Sipping
Summer is finally here! Whether grilling at home or sitting poolside at our parents, we find ourselves gravitating towards the same warm-weather favorites. Rosé and white wine taste best in the sunshine and our Dad, our family’s wine expert, makes sure he has all of our favorites lined up. This summer definitely doesn’t look the same but it’s still time to get outside and have some fun so we linked our favorite warm-weather wines for you below. (1) Villa Maria Bubbly Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and sparkly and my idea of the perfect summer wine (if you are on a bit of a budget you can also give this less…

Patriotic Sangria
Looking for a celebratory cocktail for the Fourth of July? We have a good one for you that just happens to be red, wine and blue! Mallory and I tried it on a Monday evening with Freutcake’s mojito pulled pork on pretzel buns and the Summer Slaw from this post. The combination would make a great meal for the Fourth or any other fun summer evening. INGREDIENTS: 1 cup blueberries 2/3 cup raspberries 1 cup quartered strawberries 1 bottle dry rosé 4 cups chilled club soda or seltzer 1/2 cup sugar 2 mint sprigs 4 lemon peel strips 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice DIRECTIONS: Make syrup. In a small…

Marfa Ranch Water
Its Friday AND its supposed to be a high of 80 degrees in Seattle today! That calls for a celebratory, refreshing cocktail and we have a great option for you: Marfa Ranch Water. The exact origin of this tequila-based drink is unknown, but it apparently heralds from West Texas and we are now bringing it to Western Washington. While some people claim it was invented by a Texas rancher in the 60s, it apparently was the word-of-mouth drink of West Texas dive bars until around 2010 when bartenders in Texas starting adding it to their menus. The defining characteristic of this refreshing drink is Topo Chico – an excessively bubbly mineral water…

Summer of Hard Kombucha
It’s the summer of Hard Kombucha! Have you tried it yet? It is light, fizzy, fruity and delightful. With varying levels of alcohol content and supposedly a healthy alternative to beer and wine with beneficial probiotics, prebiotics and adaptogens – what’s not to love?! We are big fans around here; so much so that we just ordered and received all the supplies to make our own! Chris introduced me to Booch Craft after discovering it in LA and I love it so much it took me a while to try any other hard kombucha brand. I recently did my research and rounded up every brand I could find at my…
